A commuter notices a young expectant mother, poorly dressed, hair unkept, sitting near the back of the bus. She looks out the window avoiding all eye contact. No one sits near her. She fights back a silent sob, and swallows hard. A tear streams down her cheek, and falls on her swollen belly. The other riders ignore her.
The commuter tries to imagine the cause of her pain. Maybe she is all alone. Maybe her family is shaming her. Maybe she has very little to offer this baby. Maybe she is broke and out of options. Where is she going? Where will she get off the bus? What is her future?
The commuter is interrupted in his thoughts for his stop and steps from the bus. As the door closes, and the bus pulls from the curb, he glances over his shoulder for one last look at the young face. The unborn baby and the mother ride on.
What was really on her mind? She is at the tipping point of a very important decision. She is on her way to an appointment that she has missed twice before. Will she go through with it this time?
What happens when we see sights that make us squirm?
You could turn away. (everyone has problems.)
You could ignore the situation. (she probably got herself in trouble.)
You could postpone action. ( I will look for her on the bus tomorrow.)
Doesn't sound like you, does it?
A baby, being formed in a womb of a very frightened young expectant mother has to be able to count on someone who is thinking clearly.
Fortunately, you can think clearly. Fortunately, you see the necessity of providing viable options other than abortion to a young mother fresh out of options Seeing Clearly. Thinking Clearly. Acting Clearly.
Please, Open your wallet or purse. Make a Gift. Create an Option.
That little soundless, helpless baby is counting on clear thinking action by someone:
Who can hear the Inaudible,
See the Invisible,
Foresee the Unknowable.
Every baby, and we mean Every Baby deserves a clear thinking adult to act as their advocate.
