Dear Oremus family,

May 18th is Pope John Paul's birthday. What a wonderful, holy father we have! Papa!

His words:

"Like Mary, you must not be afraid to allow the Holy Spirit to help you to become intimate friends of Christ. Like Mary, you must put aside any fear, in order to take Christ to the world in whatever you do - in marriage, as single people in the world, as students, as workers, as professional people. Christ wants to go to many places in the world, to enter many hearts, through you." Homily, New York, 1995

And,

" ..a great prayer for life is urgently needed, a prayer that will rise up throughout the world. Through special initiatives and in daily prayer, may an impassioned plea rise to God, the Creator and lover of life, from every Christian community, from every group and association, from every family and from the heart of every believer. Jesus himself has shown us by his own example that prayer and fasting are the first and most effective weapons against the forces of evil (Mk 8:29). Let us therefore discover anew the humility and the courage to pray and to fast so that power from high will break down the walls of lies and deceit: the walls which conceal from the sight of so many of our brothers and sisters the evil practices and laws which are hostile to life. May this same power turn their hearts to resolutions and goals inspired by the civilization of life and love." Evengelium Vitae IV: 135

Dearest Oremus family, these words are for us!... a great prayer for life is urgently needed... And so let us not be afraid to follow the example of our Holy Father,to love, to pray, to fast, to live the Holy Rosary. Thank you.
